10 Great Movies You Should Watch Before 2021 Runs Out

Great movies speak to us. They expose us to several things we are unaware of. Watching movies shouldn't just be a pastime. Every movie educates and informs. They present life issues from an objective angle.

Have you been busy throughout the year that you didn't have time to watch movies?  Well, I've got you. I have selected for your pleasure the best movies in 2021. Watch these great movies in the festive season. Thank me later.

1. The Wheel of Time

The Wheel of Time ranked first for several reasons. It is a hundred movies in one. It explores magic and reality in another dimension. It is a fantasy fiction that attempts to reconcile the supernatural with the natural.

The storytelling is beautiful and straightforward. The exposition is a hook, while the narration is direct and composite. There is no unnecessary suspense. The main conflict is the battle between self, fate, and reality. Trust me, this is the perfect movie to watch in the season. 

2. SEE

A movie and more, SEE projects the decline of human civilisation. It foretells that a virus will hit the human world and take our sense of sight. Many consider it a Sci-Fi. I see it as adventure and survival fiction. A great movie I'll beg you to watch, SEE is set in the future, some thousand years from now.

 

In a world where everyone is blind and only a handful can see, the movie insists that humanity does not change. Despite losing sight and normalcy, humans remain brute and uncoordinated.

What I love most is the distinction between knowledge and power. One suffers without the other. Also, I love how the writer ingrained the idea that books are enduring relics. Finally, I love when the writer relates with WB Yeats idea of the second coming of human civilisation. 

This is an incredible masterpiece. It's rated a 5-star!

3. DUNE

This movie ties the loose between science and fiction. A great story with an amazing storytelling technique, Dune is woven from different genres. Sci-Fi, legend, myth, adventure, and many more. Go enjoy it!

4. Foundation

When I watch Sci-Fi, I try to focus on the fictional part than the scientific one. The story, the plot, the techniques, and the characters are my concern.

Oh! Foundation is great! For its storytelling, characters and characterization as well as the subject matter. I love best how each episode is introduced. This is a great movie, with a great story, narrated through the best technique. Watch this movie. You'll enjoy it.

5. LUPIN

Lupin is a great crime novel. Greater than Money Heist, for me. I rate it higher because it's rare crime fiction. There is no violence but a witty and incredible way to execute crime activities. What I love more is the fact that the criminal activities were carried out by just a man. He plans and executes himself. 

If you consider stealing an occupation, watch Lupin. You'll be amazed at how far you'll go.

6. The Witcher

Toss a coin to your Witcher! A great movie with many shortcomings though. The Witcher is a fantasy and a great serial drama. It explores magic and reality focussing on the adventures of the Witcher. 

The movie is filled with uncoordinated flashbacks and a clumsy introduction of characters. The writer leaves so many loose ends for the audience to tie. 

You may not fully grasp the movie once but it is a great magical realism work. I however love the character of Jaskier. I love his role and how he makes a drama that is boring amazing.

7. Shadow and Bone

We easily connect with great movies. Not because they are highly rated. But because they are open windows to look into the world from a better view.

Shadow and Bone is great. For everything. Yes, everything. However, what I love most is the power given to the woman in the movie. 

In most myths, men are usually the main characters that venture to save the world from darkness and its agents. Power is given to the woman, here. Watch this great movie! Now!

8.  Only Murders in the Building

Most crimes rewrote from the point of view of detectives who attempt to solve the mysteries behind crimes. This movie is different. It deviates as it leaves three characters to solve crime stories that are difficult as jigsaw puzzles. You can only enjoy this movie. Smile!

9.  The Legend of El Cid

This movie narrates the legendary story of El Cid, a man who rises to fame. Not by nobility, wealth, or influence. But by hard work, perseverance, and devotion. 

This story enlightens me. I know it will do the same for you.

10. The Last Duel.

This is a story of betrayal, love, and luck. It dramatizes a true story of trial by combat journeying back into 14th century France.

It is a historical account of the last state-sanctioned trial by a duel in December of 1386 between Jean de Carrouges and his former friend, Jacques Le Gris.
